CANCELLED- Counseling Training - Wednesday Morning

Have you sensed God leading you to serve in the Church Counseling Ministry? Do others come to you for advice? Are there times you wished you knew a little more about how to help someone through life's difficult challenges? Do you have a desire to know how to have a better marriage, be a better parent, or resolve conflicts with others? Do you have life experience that you think you might help others facing similar challenges?

If so, you are invited to attend the Church Counseling Training beginning:

-THURSDAY NIGHT January 18, 2018 from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM in Tent 3

OR

-WEDNESDAY MORNING January 24, 2018 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM in Tent 2

This is a 30-week training class designed to help you learn a biblical paradigm through which you can help yourself and others to improve communication skills, discover the marriage God intends, develop a biblical foundation for parenting, or deal with grief, loss, anger, bitterness, inner personal struggles, or spiritual discouragement.

The Church Counseling Training is designed to fulfill Pastor Rick Warren's vision for Saddleback Church - "It is the dream of a place where the hurting, the depressed, the frustrated, and the confused can find love, acceptance, help, hope, forgiveness, guidance and encouragement."

It’s from this class we select lay leaders to become Church Counselors. While the class is open to the entire church, completing the training does not mean one will become a Church Counselor. We will explain the requirements for the Church Counseling Ministry in the class. Here are answers to some of the questions we have received regarding the Church Counseling Training:

•Yes, couples are encouraged to attend.

•Yes, a non-member can take the class.

•No, you cannot send your spouse in hopes that we will fix them.

•You must be 18 years or older to attend the training.

•Yes, even if you are a licensed mental health professional and you hope to become a church counselor, you are expected to complete the training.

•Sorry but we DO NOT provide childcare for the classes nor can you bring children to the class.

If you are a member of one of our regional campuses, you will need to come to Lake Forest for the training. Our goal is to find a way to make the training available on each campus but video training is not an effective way to train church counselors. We're working on it!
